Finally ! At the moment, I'm uploading new packages for all recent diskstations (DSx06 and later) including the DS1010+ . As a happy owner of a brandnew DS1010+ I had to compile for this version to, of course. I will update download page tomorrow, but to give you an inside of what is changed:
* Included 3th party "SABhelper" this program wil help you with:
* python upgraded to version 2.5.4 (no, don't wanna use 2.6 there is no benefit in this)
* ionice included (only supported on DSM firmware with kernel 2.6.13 or higher)
* The Synology versions of unrar & zip that comes along with latest firmware version will be used.
* SABnzbd+0.5.0RC3 is included in package (and of course, you can always up- or downgrade it via SABhelper)
* Admin URL in packagemanager will go directy to SABnzbd url. No need for redirect script or specially crafted URLS. Even port configuration change will update admin url.
* New chipset: Intel Atom. It's good to see Synology pushing out a new crosscompiler kit that fast for the new DS1010+ and DS710 ..
* Much improved & speeded up start and stop of services. Will not interfere with any other python processes
If you don't trust this new package yet, you can always use the "old" one, even next to eachother. Just beware that by default, they share the same portnumber: 9200. So, make sure only one of them is running at the same time, or configure one of them on another port then 9200 (9201).
For those who can't wait, these are the download links to different version (check wiki or links in my download page if you don't know what kind of CPU you have and which file to download):

Martin | 01/02/2010, 11:23
Yeah! Hope this resolves the problem of having an inaccessible DS during PAR2!
Nice work, Rem!

Thanks for this great work :)
Awesome !!
AmokK | 03/02/2010, 12:26
Could you give more details about how to use SABHelper ?
I don't understand what is it (sorry I'm a noob) or how to use it.
Running terminal SSH command in Sab folder ?
I have trouble with permissions in files downloaded, requires me to get "Everyone" permission, so I'd like to change that :)
Thanks !!

Hi again :)
I really need help, I don't know how to get to Sabhelper.
I uninstalled latest package to get back to old one, but now I have this permission issue on it too :(
I leave my e-mail adress, if you could just give me a clue, I know sabhelper is there in a folder like a web page ...
AmokK | 03/02/2010, 22:13
Sorry to flood your blog, found it in syno's admin page (bottom), but no clue on how to fix permissions.
Will get to the forum, erase my posts :)

Hoi Remco,
Zucht | 06/02/2010, 13:24
Thanks Remco for you great work!
Marwood | 07/02/2010, 10:41
Fantastic, works like a charm and whether I'm imagining it or not definitely faster all round.
Thanks as always for your work on this.

On my 107+ it "kills" the box after a few minutes of downloading. I cannot connect to it via SMB and Webmanagment is really unusable. I think it uses all RAM and then everything is fucked up... Any idea?
Tscherno | 07/02/2010, 12:42
Yep, i justed looked in the messages:
Feb 7 12:53:15 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 3632 (scheduler).
Feb 7 12:53:15 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 3882 (synonetbkpd).
and so on...

Having the ability to upload the source code via SABhelper to upgrade/downgrade is an excellent idea !! Good thinking!

Merty,
Your packages are great! Using them since you first SAB package...
What about making an easy installer for OpenVPN?
This makes connecting to your NAS from a remote location very nice and secure!
Thanks for looking into OpenVPN!

Works well on 110j.
Great job.

I can't seem to upgrade to RC6 from RC3. I'm using the file called "SABnzbd-0.5.0rc6-osx-src.tar.gz OS X" and downloading it from FireFox to prevent Safari from un-gz'ing it. But, when I go to helper to upgrade it says the .py file may be in the wrong place. Any ideas? TIA.
merty | 19/02/2010, 20:00
You have the wrong file, you shouldn't take the mac OS X source (why should you, synologies aren't running OS X..). You have to use the 'original' python sources: SABnzbd-0.5.0RC6-src.tar.gz ('portable').

Dear Merty,
Just bought a Synology DS210J.
I installed the 5.0RC3 version of sabnzbd and is working perfect.
Thank you.
Sabnzbd Helper when i download the latest file (version 5.0 python) and install it with the helper I got the message that SABnzb.py does not exist.
When I unzip the tar the file is in to archive. Please take a look if you would.
Renzo | 24/02/2010, 14:27
Hi,

Hi,
First, i'd like to thanks you for your amazing work.
Sabnzbd is working perfect on my synology thanks to you.
The 21/02/2010 Sabnzbd release Sabnzbd 5.0 FINAL.
When did you make a new synology package for this lastest version.
Thanks you again merty and have a nice day...
PS: Sorry for my bad english writing...

Looks good!
